The great way is easy but people prefer the side paths
The Tao Te Ching
Let’s look at specifics for Deep Tissue Therapy, Reiki, Physical Therapists, and Massage Therapists. I’m in Michigan, and the laws are different from state to state, so you need to check the laws in your own state.
What I do is 100% holistic, and I’ve had epic results as seen in my reviews over 25 years. I do no nude spa massage with oil or touch therapy or other massage types at all. You need to call the pratitioner and ask them what they do. Real medical deep tissue work is done with a dry hand, no oil. It’s Naprapathic manual therapy, not P.T. manual therapy, but they are similar.
I have 4 years of medical training from Blue Heron Academy of Arts and Science. I am a cash practice and can take HSA cards. I have one D.O. and a neurosurgeon in town who refer patients to me because of my skill. However, those patients are not holistic minded, tend to want things quickly fixed, and insurance billable. Holism isn’t like that. We don’t put sick care insurance before outcomes. If you want to heal and get well, you’ll run the course with holistic medicine.
Some P.T.’s, not all, do fully clothed therapeutic massage manual therapy. My P.T. is effective but thinks pain is good. They don’t mind causing pain, and they use pressure to strip the muscle tissue. It does feel better afterward, but I achieve the same results with Naprapathic techniques that do not cause pain. Some patients like pain. To each his own. The P.T. has a Masters degree, is licensed, is very ambitious, and wants to be included in the E.R. I think they want to become independent holistic doctors, which is what I am with 4 years of training. But Michigan won’t license holistic doctors. P.T.’s are very didactic and loyal to the straight system, so they bill insurance.
Chiropractors are state licensed, move bones, use activators, and some type of manual therapy, I don’t know what. But they can legally use the manual therapy code to bill insurance. The five I’ve worked with contend that by moving the bones, you fix the soft tissue attachments. I disagree based on science, which is why I don’t work with them. Again, to each his own. Some people swear by chiropractors, like a religion.
The massage therapists in Michigan have a license and are only required to have about 6 months of training. There are probably at least 50 different types of massages who all use oil on the skin. There is a sex trafficking problem here, so you have to ask directly if they do prostitution massage or not. If they are licensed by the state, it is illegal.
However, there is a Grand Rapids township ordinance #254 that makes massage parlors legal here. You can google it. They just have to get an STD test, and there ya go. There are plenty of men around here looking for that, so be sure and ask. Who knows what you’re going to get. Again, to each his own. Many men love prostitution instead of actually taking care of a medical problem. It’s the oldest and most lucrative business in the million years of humankind, and Google is all over it. Success!! $$$
Google mandated that I call myself a massage therapist even though I have no certificate in it and no license because I’m not a prostitute. All I can say is that it’s legal here and licensed, which is more than other practitioners have. So apparently, GOOGLE really wants women to be in that role in Michigan, and I got an email saying I’m not allowed to be opposed to it.
My son fixed my listing on my Google biz site to my legal name, Deep Tissue Therapy and Reiki, but Google has banned me from the algorithms. I get no new patient calls.
I do great work, and I appreciate your business should you need expert treatment. 616-328-4242.
